Hello,
I love the Ivory Search plugin! I am working on a corporate intranet for a new client of mine, and I have deployed a Windows Server 2019 machine with a WordPress website. The Ivory Search is producing some interesting phenomenon that I can’t quite explain. I’ll do my best to capture in screenshots to supplement my text.
As an example, when one searches for “form” (no quotes), the AJAX autofill finds the name of the items that have that term. So far so good. The issue is the dropdown link takes the user to a link that doesn’t exist. In this example, here is the link AJAX dropdown results produce:
http://my.website/form-agreement/
That link should actually be:
http://my.website/wp-content/uploads/forms/form-agreement.pdf
See attached screenshot to understand the context of the above example.
When I hit the enter/return button on the keyboard after typing in the search criteria, I am taken to this page:
http://my.website/?s=form&id=22
On that page, the results are generated based on the search criteria. The links on this page take the user to the direct document, as intended. This behavior is completely expected and works perfectly.
For some reason, the AJAX results in the dropdown link simply do not link directly to the file. Could you help me get this sorted? I will have users (including myself) who would prefer to click on the dropdown link directly instead of being taken to the search results page. I have a funny feeling that this could be related to some setting in Windows Server where it’s not playing perfectly nicely with the WordPress installation, but that is just a guess.

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.
Is the form agreement text displayed in the AJAX search results a PDF file title?
Could you please share me the screenshot of the page that you get clicking on that link?
Best regards,

Thanks for your prompt reply.
To answer your question, the files being found here are indeed PDF files; however, what you see there isn’t technically the title of the PDF. The title of the PDFs are similar, but are without the hyphens. There ARE hyphens in the file name itself, but not the title. Further, the file name does not have capital letters. I’m not sure why this form is displaying the documents in this way because it kind of seems to be making it up, as neither of the files are named or titled like that at all.
I’m not really sure what happened with the attached screenshots, but I think I was marked as spam so some of my edited content didn’t make it to the original post and instead you see two of the same screenshot files when really there were/should be two different ones. I no longer have access to the original images, and my setup has changed significantly so I can’t reproduce the exact issue at this moment anymore.
After playing with some settings, I made some adjustments so that it uses a little more friendly with users who might be clicking on it. I believe at the time of my posting, which since that time I have made lots of changes to the search form, there may have been an issue with permalinks, so I flushed those and continued to play. I would say for now it is working as expected, because this issue doesn’t come up anymore. I also believe there is a little bit of a conflict as well as a learning curve for me regarding this plugin and its compatibility with another that I think were creating some issues. Now that I know a little bit better how both plugins work, I want to say I am on a good path to success with the corporate intranet that people are going to be able to use.
