Hi there! Thank you so much for making the BEST WordPress plugin for search.

Today I updated the plugin to the newest version, and now I get a problem:

All of my Google Analytics visits are showing page accesses from this search URL:

      /?s=&id=Default&result=

Since I have updated the plugin, that URL has become the top #1 URL accessed on my website (according to Google Analytics).

      What could be happening?

This is my website if you want to see: https://nickgray.net/

Ivory Search is installed in the menu bar. Could it be the way that we are loading JavaScript?

I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

The latest released plugin version 4.5 contains search analytics functionality that tracks in Google analytics what users are searching on your website.

Actually it should display as below for you.

      /?s=search-term&id=Default&result=Results Found

I want to test it but I don’t see any search form on your website as shown in the attached screenshots.

Could you please display the search form on your website so that I can test and troubleshoot it?

      Best regards,
      Ivory Search Support

Hello, I have fixed this problem by rolling back / reverting to the previous version. I do not want to use version 4.5 because of how it was changing my Google Analytics data. Thank you for your help.

To clarify what was happening: Google Analytics was reporting this URL being accessed —

      /?s=&id=Default&result=

for every single page view, regardless of search. So someone would visit /blog/, for example, and within a few seconds Google Analytics would change their page URL from /blog/ to then go to /?s=&id=Default&result=

Perhaps this is because we are lazy-loading some JavaScripts or CSS at the end of the page? I do not know why it was happening.

If you wish, it is OK to mark this as resolved. I am happy to just use the old version of the plugin.

Thank you for providing detailed information.

I tried to reproduce the issue on my website but I couldn’t so it seems specific to your website.

Perhaps this is because we are lazy-loading some JavaScripts or CSS at the end of the page? I do not know why it was happening.

This can be an issue so you can try temporarily deactivating the lazy-loading and test it.

Also, I can see you are using some cache on your website so you can also try clearing the cache.

I have released the plugin version 4.5.1 that contains a fix for this.

Please update the plugin on your website to the latest version and let me know how it works for you.

I had the same issue on my website so I deactivated the plug-in. I will reactivate now with the latest update and check it out. Thanks.

Yes, I believe it has. I haven’t had very many visitors yet to confirm 100% that the problem is resolved, but with the visits I have had so far, the issue has not reoccurred. Considering it was happening with every visit prior, I think this is a good sign. Thanks for the update and I will let you know if anything changes.
