      Hi There,

      Thank you for creating this great plugin.

      I have installed Ivory Search and set up description length,
      but, the the length is not limited and all the descriptions appear.

      Would you please tell me how to fix this?

      I switched the original theme to TwentyTwenty, and deactivate all the plugin except for Ivory Search,
      but the description length still does not work properly.

      The Ivory Search is located on footer widget.

      WordPress version: 6.1.1
      PHP version: 7.4.33
      MySQL version: 5.7.40-cll-lve
      Ivory Search version: 5.5

      I hope you are well today and thank you for your question.

      It seems the option is working and trimming the excerpt to 40 words.

      Could you please try reducing the description length to 20 or 10?

      Thank you for quick replying.
      I reduced the description length to 10, but the AJAX search result still shows over 10 length texts.

      I tested it on your website and counted the words using https://wordcounter.net/ which shows correctly for me as shown in the attached screenshots.

      Could you please try lowering the number 10 and changing the option from Excerpt to Content?

      Also, please count the words using https://wordcounter.net/

      I see, so a bunch of spaces between words are trimmed and some words are counted as one word.
      I also checked the number of words with the site you shared.

      I changed the description length to 1, and switched to Content, but the result is the same.

      Is it possible to add an option of counting length by the number of texts, or if there are any other solutions, that would be great.

      I have tested it on my website by setting the description length to 1 word and it displays the description as shown in the attached screenshot.

      It seems there are no empty spaces in the text, therefore, it displays a large description.

      Currently, the plugin does not provide the functionality to trim text by a number of characters.

      You can achieve this by developing custom code.

      If you are not a developer, you can consider hiring a developer to develop it. You can hire a developer from any freelance site or WordPress agency.

      My site still shows a bunch of texts like the attached screenshot, but it seems that the your site shows shorter description.

      How can I get the same result like your site?

      Just set the description length to 1 word and add spaces between words.

      I have set the description length to 1 word and added spaces and line breaks, but it still shows long length of texts like the attached files.
      Do you have any idea to fix this ?

      Would you mind if I log in to your site and do quick troubleshooting? If this is ok then could you please temporarily create an admin user account and share the account login details privately by checking the option “Set as private reply” when replying to this topic?

      It seems that some caches affected before.
      Now it is working as you said.
      I will chat with its client how to solve the length of description stuff.
      So far it’s fine to close this topic.
