Check menu (hamburger menu). Klik on the magnifier. Then you can enter some words.
When I user terms as Escher, escher, eschar’s, mcescher, i only get a few results (mostly pages) but no media items.
BUT when I search on “father”, then i’ll see my pictures with words like ‘escher’ in caption or description.Does Search not work on Caption / decsription all the time? Why do I not see this when i use escher?

The search form only searches the content and display it in the order what you have configured it in the search form so please check it.
If it is not giving you the required results then please tell me how you have configured the search form by sharing its screenshots and what output you are expecting.
